One axe for the jobs a knife cannot do
A good hatchet earns its place on every trip and in every woodshed. Ours handles the work a knife is too small for, from splitting kindling to limbing deadfall, shaping tent pegs, and knocking in stakes. The compact head keeps the weight down for the pack, and the forward balance still gives you a clean, controlled bite.
A hatchet sits in the sweet spot for size. It does most of what a full axe does, yet it fits in or straps to a pack and you can swing it all day without wearing out your arm. For camp, bushcraft, and general property work, one hatchet covers a lot of ground.
Steel that holds an edge
We forge the head from high-carbon spring steel, the tough steel family used in vehicle leaf springs. It takes a keen edge, survives hard chopping, and comes back sharp on a stone or a file. When the edge dulls in the field, you fix it in the field.
Made by hand in Nepal
Every axe comes from a hereditary blacksmith family in the Kathmandu Valley who have forged working tools for generations. A smith shapes the head, sets the edge, and fits a straight-grained hardwood handle by hand. This is a tool you sharpen, rehang, and pass on, not a stamped copy from a machine line. We keep our makers private and pay them fairly for skilled work.
It does not exist until you order it
We make most tools to order rather than hold big stock. Once your order lands, a smith starts your axe by hand. Expect 30 to 50 days from order to dispatch, and delivery on top of that. Good work is worth the wait.
