sickle

$50.00

Category:

The sickle is one of the oldest tools a farmer owns, and in Nepal it never left the field. Farmers reach for the hasiya to bring in rice and wheat, cut fodder for livestock, and clear weeds around the smallholding. The curved blade does the work for you. You hook, pull, and the crop drops.

We make ours the traditional way. A smith heats the steel, hammers the curve, grinds the edge, and fits the handle by hand. We forge from high-carbon spring steel that takes a keen edge and comes back sharp on a stone. Every sickle comes from a hereditary blacksmith family in the Kathmandu Valley, and we pay them fairly for skilled work.
